Laughter is good for the soul! It causes your body to release endorphins – the body’s natural pain killer – and to reduce the stress hormone, cortisol.
Who in your life makes you laugh the most?
For me, I’d have to say it’s my kids and my sister Dede. Here’s a recent interaction I had with my daughter, Brianna, that had me laughing so hard I was crying.
“Brianna,” I say during a FaceTime call. “The agent Auntie Jan knows just sent me a casting call for a ‘mom/daughter duo’ to virtually ask questions to celebrity ‘mom/daughter duos’. Are you in?”
“Sure,” she says. “What do you need?”
I tell her to send me her headshot and bio.
She says, “Can you please send me your bio to use as an example?”
I did and what I get back from my hilarious kid cracked me up! She blended our bios together and came up with this:
About Denise Marek and her daughter Brianna:
Denise (Mom) is internationally known as the Worry Management Expert and the creator of the CALM™ methodology for worry-free living.
Brianna (Daughter) is locally known by her food delivery person as “Her again?!”
Denise (Mom) is a published author of several books, including CALM: A Proven Four-Step Process Designed Specifically for Women Who Worry.
Brianna (Daughter) is an unpublished author of several diary entries including: Things To Tell My Therapist and Thoughts of An Insomniac.
Denise (Mom) has been awarded the Toastmasters International Accredited Speaker Award for Professionalism and Outstanding Achievement in Public Speaking.
Brianna (Daughter) has been awarded “Best Dog-Mom of The Year” two years in a row by her four-year-old dachshund, Otis.
I call Brianna right after reading it. “Brianna,” I say. “How did you come up with that? It’s hilarious!”
With a smile on her face, and a twinkle in her eye, she says, “I just took your bio and made it better.”
I hope that made you laugh! As Jasper Carrott said,
“Laughter is the best medicine – unless you’re diabetic, then insulin comes pretty high on the list.”
Look for ways to add humour to your life. Watch a funny movie, share a funny video, or post silly photos. It really is good for the soul.
All my best,
